Solar dos Frades is duly licensed to carry out tourism activities, in accordance with Portuguese legislation. License RNET no. 10854. Located in Ferreira do Alentejo, it is a charming destination that offers its guests a unique stay. The D. Diogo Maldonado Passanha mansions, a former manor house built in the 18th century, and the João Carlos Infante Passanha Mansion, a former manor house built between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, located in the centre of the town of Ferreira do Alentejo, in Portugal, were built by an influential family from Ferreira do Alentejo. Their interiors were modified several times throughout history, and were even occupied by a college, at which time they received the popular name of Solar dos Frades.

Some of the interior rooms were decorated with murals, probably painted by João Eloy Amaral. In the late 20th century or early 21st century, restoration work was carried out and both buildings were converted into a tourist accommodation unit, together forming the Solar dos Frades tourist unit.
